What Are the Revised IRCTC Ticket Cancellation Fees?
Introduction:
IRCTC, the online ticket booking platform, has revised confirmed ticket cancellation fees. Passengers should be informed of these charges for any e-ticket cancellations.
To initiate cancellations, visit www.irctc.co.in and log in to access the "Booked Tickets" section. Select the ticket to cancel, choose passengers for cancellation, and proceed. Once processed, an online confirmation is sent, and refunds are credited to the booking account.
For partial ticket cancellations, print a fresh e-reservation slip individually from the initial ticket.
Note: E-tickets cannot be canceled post chart preparation. For trains departing before noon, charts are usually completed the evening prior. In this scenario, utilize the TDR filing option and track refund status through the provided services.
Also, e-tickets aren't cancellable at Railway Reservation Ticket Counters. Follow the online process for cancellations.
For group e-tickets with confirmed and RAC/waitlisted statuses, a full refund minus the clerk will be available for confirmed passengers. This applies only if tickets are canceled online or TDR filed 30 minutes before departure.
RAC e-ticket refunds are allowed only if timely cancellation is done, and filing a TDR at least 30 minutes prior to the train's departure is crucial.
Agents managing e-tickets can't cancel them post-chart preparation. For cancellation requests, email details to etickets@irctc.co.in.
Cancellation fees for confirmed e-tickets vary by cancellation timing:
- More than 48 hours before departure: Flat rate based on ticket class.
- Between 48 and 12 hours before departure: 25% fare deduction, subject to a minimum charge.
- Within 12 to 4 hours before departure: 50% fare deduction, subject to a minimum charge.
- No refund if canceled less than 4 hours before departure.
For support, contact IRCTC at customer care numbers or email care@irctc.co.in for e-tickets or etickets@irctc.co.in for cancellations. E-catering services can be reached at 1323.
In summary, being aware of these charges is vital for IRCTC users. Understanding the guidelines will assist passengers in effectively managing cancellations.
