On April 7, 1967, Singapore launched the Board of Commissioners of Currency and released its first coins and notes. As of 2019, the Singapore Dollar stands as the 13th-most traded currency worldwide by value. Besides Singapore, the SGD is accepted in Brunei, facilitated by the Currency Interchangeability Agreement between Singapore and Brunei Darussalam's monetary authorities.
