KDM gold refers to a gold alloy containing 92% gold and 8% cadmium. This combination was initially used for achieving high purity standards but has been banned due to health hazards posed to artisans by cadmium. It has now been replaced with safer metals like Zinc.

What does '916 Gold' mean?

'916 Gold' is another name for 22K gold, denoting that in 100 grams of gold, 91.6 grams are pure gold.

Note: Gold is classified by purity such as 24K, 23K, and 18K. If it's hallmarked, 'BIS' is prefixed; for instance, 22K gold is termed 'BIS 916' and 23K as 'BIS 958'. The numbers, e.g., 916 or 958, are part of the hallmark seal.
